Massimo Aiello was born in Naples in 1966.

He has always, or nearly always, been involved with music.


He is primarily self-taught in music research and he started studying music at the age of 10.

 

He studied with various famous drum teachers in Italy, like Tullio De Piscopo, Walter Calloni and Enrico Lucchini (Lucchini was also a teacher together with Kenny Clarke and Dante Agostini in their prestigious Paris drum school in the 70s).

He has been an independent music teacher since 1986.

 

As a performing artist, Aiello played with more than 100 Italian and international bands and recorded many albums.


In 2001 he recorded his first solo project, the album
"Tribute to Beethoven - Drum in the Symphony No. 9" with Azzurra Music label (www.azzurramusic.it), deriving from his as a soloist performance live presented since 1987; a original project that has been appreciated all around the world with the support of international music magazines, including the most important drum magazine "Modern Drummer", and world-renowned educational institutions, such as PAS-Percussive Arts Society.

In 2019 he published "THE HIDDEN SIDE OF THE SOUND - FUZZJ : a new compositivity | IL LATO NASCOSTO DEL SUONO - FUZZJ : una nuova compositività (Bilingual edition English/Italian)" - A fearless and visionary proposal for a new musical compositivity resulting from an inner need and a vivid dream. Maybe possible....

 

In 2006 he published "The Complete Drums’ Method" (in english ebook version and in italian paper book version "Metodo Completo per Batteria"), an extensive didactic book that included innovative musical concepts elaborated by him after long years of research and experimentation, very appreciated also abroad.
